Wedding guest questions · For the host

Which gate or entrance do we come in from?

“Kaunse gate se aana hai?”

If the venue has more than one entrance, name the one guests should use, describe it in words a driver can spot, and send a map pin for that gate, not just the venue. Hotels and big lawns often have separate gates for banquets, rooms and service, and guests end up at the wrong one.

What to tell guests

How should you answer it?

  • Drop the pin on the gate itself. A pin on the venue's name often lands at the hotel lobby or the main building.
  • Describe it the way a driver sees it: "second gate after the petrol pump, with the marigold arch".
  • If different functions use different lawns or halls, say which gate goes with which function.
  • For elders and wheelchairs, say which entrance has no steps.

English

Please come in from [gate name], on the [landmark] side. It opens straight onto [lawn / hall]. Pin for the gate: [map link]

Hinglish

[Gate name] se aaiye, [landmark] wali side se. Wahan se seedha [lawn / hall] hai. Gate ki location: [map link]

Avoid

What goes wrong with this one?

  • Sharing the venue's listing on the map, which drops guests at reception.
  • Moving a function to another lawn and not saying the gate changed too.
  • Nobody at the gate for the first hour to point the way.

On ShaadiMode

Can someone answer this for you on WhatsApp?

ShaadiMode's guest helper answers this from your invitation on WhatsApp. Type the gate under entry gate in More → Guest helper. When a guest asks where a function is, the helper can also send that venue's map pin from your invitation. It comes with Signature, where it either drafts the reply for you to approve or sends it on its own when it is sure. How the guest helper works

How do I share the exact wedding venue location on WhatsApp?

Drop a pin on the entrance guests should use rather than the venue's name, and send it as a location with one line describing the gate.

What if the haldi and the wedding are at different venues?

Give each function its own venue and pin, and send the right one the day before that function, so guests never have to scroll back to find it.
