What is Mandvo?

Also written: Mandap mahurat, mandap muhurat, માંડવો

Mandvo is the Gujarati word for the wedding canopy, and the mandvo or mandap mahurat is the puja when that canopy is set up and blessed before the wedding.

What should you know about Mandvo?

The family prays to the earth and to Ganesha before setting up the first post of the mandap, asking that the wedding go well. The puja is held at both the bride's and the groom's homes.

It is usually one of the first rituals of a Gujarati wedding, often on the same day as the grah shanti and pithi.
