What should you know about Sakharpuda?

The groom's family brings a green or silk saree, jewellery and the sugar packet to the bride, a sign that her life with them will be sweet. The bride wears the saree, the families exchange rings, and elders bless the couple. Many families also fix or announce the wedding date that day.

Today many sakharpudas are held at a hall with relatives, a puja, the ring exchange and a meal.
