Aiburo means unmarried and bhaat means rice. The family lays out a festive meal, often with rice, fish, sweets and payesh, served on a large plate with the bride or groom seated in new clothes. Relatives may hold aiburobhat on several days.

It is a loving send-off to the single days, and is often full of jokes and photographs. Friends and neighbours sometimes host their own aiburobhat for the bride or groom, so there may be more than one.
