Bou bhaat is the Bengali reception at the groom's home, the day the new bride serves rice to his family for the first time and the groom promises to provide for her.
About Bou bhaat
In the bhaat-kapor ritual, the groom gives the bride a plate of rice and a new saree, promising food and clothing for life. Later, the bride serves food to the family, and in the evening the family hosts a reception for relatives and friends.
It is usually the second day after the wedding.
