What should you know about Walima?

It is usually held after the rukhsati, often the next day or within a few days. The couple receive guests, and a meal is served.

Families are encouraged to keep the walima within their means and to invite people of every standing. Many families now hold it as a hall reception with a stage for the couple, and some combine it with a reception for friends.
